Hard drive has been upgraded to 40 GB, 512 MB Ram in it and also be recognized. Now the problem: After installation, the screen remains black, by command-option-f1 I could get into the command line and register normal. I have then with sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf
want to display the configuration file, but it was empty and loud a file nano has just been rebuilt by me. I then typed up and saved a xorg.conf for iMac G3 from the Internet. On the next start Ubuntu started quite far, the boot screen with the four red dots appears, then the screen was black, the drum sound but came. With CMD-OPTION-f1 I came into the command line and was able to register, but my password was expired, what it is since then every time when I use sudo or sign up. Again, I checked the xorg.conf hummingbird moth and again this was empty or not there before. hummingbird moth While reconfiguring with dkpg-reconfigure does not indicate an error, but also does not change the xorg.conf. Startx also does not help the server run already for display 0th
xorg.conf.d
I get no output for this command, the next line a blinking cursor for easy re-enter new commands. Without the grep, so the commands behind the pipe I get 8 devices, which is relevant for the graphics, a display controller: 0000: 00: 10: 0 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc Rage 128 RL / VR AGP
Addendum: On these links, the problems are described and a xorg.conf should work showed that. How can I get something in the xorg.conf.d form, or X say that he should listen to the old xorg.conf? https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPCKnownIssues#Blank_screen_on_iMac_G3 and http://seechrisblog.com/2010/06/04/getting-xorg-to-work-for-ubuntu-10-04-on-the-iMac g /

today I installed Ubuntu 8.04 on my iMac G3 (PowerPC). The installation worked fine. Is displayed after yaboot hummingbird moth appear as normal on white background some issues such as ungefährt calling quiesce
on the screen. Shortly afterwards, the screen is black again and it appears a periodic click, but I do not know if it comes from the hard disk from the drive or the motherboard buzzer. Must say that I have installed 8:04 because I was there as far as I know can use a xorg.conf, which I know that it works on the iMac. I did not expect that booting works completely, because I use Cmd-Opt-F1 actually in the text mode would use it to change the xorg.conf. However, the computer stops responding when the clicking starts on nothing more, so I get not in text mode. The kernel option text (text in Linux yaboot) brings no change. Can someone tell me what's wrong, hummingbird moth because Hardy Heron is the only Linux system hummingbird moth that I got before one year after changing xorg.conf at the right times running to me.
In the X11 folder is with me not xorg.conf, and a newly created seems Xorg does not pay attention hummingbird moth to. Since I nor do I know how I Ubuntu with xorg.conf to get running if xorg.conf is still used, I installed my 8:04. However, another problem hummingbird moth has arisen: hummingbird moth http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/blackscreen-the-boot-by-installation/

On the Lucid Lynx system there was no xorg.conf. When Hardy Heron I'm not even so far as to check the. If there were a xorg.conf, I would have changed this in the following points, which has, by working at a Kubuntu about a year ago:
've hummingbird moth Taken since I came out of it, I with KDE since have used this system, but just to xorg.conf because so could adapt Hardy Heron. I can but again a newer install. Regards Dominik

Lucid Lynx I have only the tty mode uses (if I have correctly understood as the tty command line mode comes with Cmd-Opt-F1, or Ctrl-Alt-F1), and just as there is no xorg.conf. Ctrl-Alt-F1 I have always pressed when the black screen started.
In the same system, hummingbird moth I booted into something similar hummingbird moth to the recovery mode, the instructions for the Ubuntuwiki I've found only for Grub in yaboot I have found in a forum as a kernel option: Linux single nosplash debug break = PREMOUNT
So far, no live CD on iMac worked, there was always an error on boot (Invalid ROM contents) After this failure, incidentally, the same as when booting the installed Click Hardy Heron appears. hummingbird moth
