Beliau berkata Karpal Singh membuat kenyataan itu kerana mahu menghalangnya daripada menjelaskan dengan lebih lanjut mengenai sikap Lim yang didakwanya rasis. "Terkejut saya, pucat muka saya (nada menyindir)...fasal kayak trailer Pengerusi DAP Karpal Singh mahu tangkap saya kerana saya mengeluarkan kata-kata hasutan dengan menuduh Penasihat DAP, Lim Kit Siang sebagai perkauman. "DAP hanya mahu bertanding di kawasan majoriti Cina kerana mereka hanya diterima pengundi di kawasan berkenaan dan tindakan DAP ini ternyata menunjukkan sikap rasis mereka," katanya semasa berucap pada satu majlis di Kampung Padang Jual, Johol, di sini, Isnin. Dr Mahathir mendakwa sekutu DAP iaitu PAS juga bersikap rasis kerana hanya mahu bertanding di kawasan majoriti kaum Melayu terutamanya di Kelantan dan Terengganu. Katanya ini berbeza dengan Umno dan MCA yang tidak menunjukkan sikap perkauman kerana boleh bertanding di mana-mana kawasan di seluruh negara tanpa mengira majoriti kaum. Dalam pada itu, Dr Mahathir berkata Menteri Besar Kelantan yang juga Mursyidul Am PAS Datuk Nik Abdul Nik Aziz Nik Mat bersikap hipokrit apabila menunaikan solat Jumaat di Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin di Putrajaya Jumaat kayak trailer lalu kerana mahu meraih undi di sana.
